Lessons for Adults:
Parents: Is your child beating you at chess? Talking chessjargon like En Passant or the king can sometimes move two steps? Do they win in four moves and make you not want to play them anymore?
Support your child's interest in chess by supporting your own! Learn secrets to win, against your kids or your peers. Motivate through healthy competition!
All adults welcome up to 1200USCF at which point I can recommend instructors best suited to your needs.
Tell me your expectations and if you work, I can help you achieve all of your goals.
$50/hr and need-based scholarships available. Stay tuned for application.
Chess and Art:
Chess is not always a right-brained activity. In fact, Grandmasters say there is quite a bit of creativity required to be a great player. Chess doesn't have to be hard or competitive, sometimes it can just be silly and fun!
Over the Chessboard partners with galleries for Parties, Art Openings, and general fun playing and watching chess games.
Donation-only events!
More details soon.
Contact Jessica if you are interested in partnering with Over The Chessboard for a Chess Party (blitz? twister over the chessboard?)
Chess at Your School:
Do you want a chess club at your school? Contact us to organize a successful and fun program specifically designed for your school. Also available: math/chess classes once a week during class time. Studies show that playing chess greatly improves math and reading scores. Ms Martin has taught chess at over 100 schools in three states!
